Topic: RTCW Map Downloader

I was wondering if the RTCW Map Downloader would work for RTCW COOP? It's a great tool that really speeds up the downloading of maps and other files when you connect to a customised server. Here's the details:

================================
===RTcW MAP DOWNLOADER README===
================================
Version: 0.8
Date:    December, 5 2008
Site:    http://www.breezie.be/rtcw/mapdownloader
Contact: breezie1337@msn.com
================================

What?:
This is an application that works together with the game 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein'.
It automatically downloads missing custom maps for the game.

Why?:
Unfortunately RTCW does not support HTTP downloads.
Downloading maps at 12kb/s takes way too much time.
Thats where this app. comes in handy.

How?:
1. Open the EXE file.
2. An icon will appear in your tray.
3. If a map is missing, RTCW will be shut down, the map will be downloaded and RTCW will restart.

Requirements:
   - RTCW (1.0, 1.33 or 1.4)
   - .NET Framework 2.0
   - Downloads must be enabled on both client and server (sv_allowdownload 1 & cl_allowdownload 1)

Notes:
   - You can view a list of supported maps on the website. You can also add maps and download URL's.

It can be downloader from here:

Re: RTCW Map Downloader

http map downloads are planned for one of the next releases, but as there is almost no custom content for rtcwcoop this is pretty useless at the moment smile

That's great news, Fretn. If things go according to plan, though, you may soon have more custom content than you were expecting. As I mentioned before, the Russian RTCW fans, the Volfshantse Community in particular, have made some amazing maps and missions for RTCW SP. I have contacted them regarding your excellent work with RTCW COOP and I am now awaiting their reply in respects to porting their maps for RTCW COOP.

Here's the link to my post:

To say that the Volfshantse Community are good at making maps would be the understatement of the year. These are some of the most talented developers in the history of the game and when I spoke with developers such as Krot and Hiperon about RTCW COOP they were very interested and they were kind enough to allow me to join their website. Registration is normally disabled unless you are granted permission from their excellent community. I consider myself very fortunate to have been allowed to join there.

There is another developer there, his name is Vicpas, his work is awesome. Here's a link to his Youtube channel where you can see some of his superb work:

I will keep you posted with any new developments.

Re: RTCW Map Downloader

yes it would be great if they port some maps and expand the coop community

If you really want to find skilled and the hot shots of mapping you should check the base site - one all used to learn, and with some luck you may hook one of them to port their magic or others to coop.

Re: RTCW Map Downloader

Okay Nate, leave it with me and I'll see what I can do.

Re: RTCW Map Downloader

they are still active ? I remember them from back in the days

Re: RTCW Map Downloader

Dunno, forums are still up so I assume few are still around. I do recall a couple of years ago they had issues with migration or database getting corrupt or something. But in either case, as long as archive exist it's fine as that site is really a fountain of knowledge when it comes to mapping, scripting and related.

I'm beginning to wonder that myself, Fretn. It's been 4 days since I registered there and I'm still waiting for one of the Admins to activate my account.
